CAUCUS & ASSEMBLY – UPDATE
—————————-
Caucus is a neighborhood meeting of Republicans where you get to elect your precinct’s leadership, and begin the Primary candidate nomination process by electing Delegates to the Republican County Assembly and higher assemblies. It is also the first step in deciding what is in the Republican Party’s Platform through the Resolution process.
Caucuses directly influence who appears on the primary ballot, giving grassroots voters more power than a general election alone.
The Purpose of the Precinct Caucus – Grassroots Organizing
Gunnison GOP Precinct Caucus will be Saturday, March 7, 2026 • 9:00 A.M. (Registration to begin at 8:00 A.M. and closes at 8:59 A.M.) at Fred Field Center, 275 S. Spruce St, Gunnison, CO.
At your Precinct Caucus, Republicans will:
– Elect 2 Precinct Committee Persons (PCPs) from your precinct for leadership
– Elect Delegates and Alternates to County Assembly
– Elect Assembly Delegates to House District 58 Senate District 5 and Congressional District 3
– Elect Delegates to Colorado GOP Assembly
– Apply to be an Election Judge (Applications available at Caucus)
County Assembly
Delegates (elected at Caucus) take the next steps in party business, voting to designate candidates for all Gunnison county offices to the Republican Primary in June. To participate as a Delegate in the House, Senate, Congressional and Colo State Assemblies, you must be elected as a Delegate or alternate to the County Assembly.
Gunnison County GOP Assembly will be held on Saturday, March 7th following the Caucus.
