DESCRIPTION:Caucus and Assembly – Mark your Calendar!\nCaucus is a neighborhood meeting of Republicans where you get to elect your precinct’s leadership\, and begin the Primary candidate nomination process by electing Delegates to the Republican County Assembly and higher assemblies. It is also the first step in deciding what is in the Republican Party’s Platform through the Resolution process. \nCaucuses directly influence who appears on the primary ballot\, giving grassroots voters more power than a general election alone. \nThe Purpose of the Precinct Caucus – Grassroots Organizing \nGunnison GOP Precinct Caucus will be Saturday\, March 7\, 2026 • 9:00 A.M. (Registration to begin at 8:00 A.M. and Assembly will follow the completion of Caucus after a short break) at Fred Field Center\, 275 S. Spruce St\, Gunnison\, CO.  \nBecause this could be a long day\, we are making this event a Potluck. Please bring something to share. Here is a link to list what you plan to bring: https://www.PerfectPotluck.com/RQYS1813 \nAt your Precinct Caucus\, Republicans will: \n\nElect 2 Precinct Committee Persons (PCPs) from your precinct for leadership\nElect Delegates and Alternates to County Assembly\nElect Assembly Delegates to House District 58 Senate District 5 and Congressional District 3\nElect Delegates to Colorado GOP Assembly\nApply to be an Election Judge (Applications available at Caucus)\n\nCounty Assembly \nDelegates (elected at Caucus) take the next steps in party business\, voting to designate candidates for all Gunnison county offices to the Republican Primary in June.  To participate as a Delegate in the House\, Senate\, Congressional and Colo State Assemblies\, you must be elected as a Delegate or alternate to the County Assembly. \nCandidates: If you are interested in running for a county position\, please contact the party immediately.  You will need to be nominated for the position at the County Assembly. At this meeting\, they assemble in neighborhood groups to choose two of their own local\, Republican Representatives for their area. These neighborhood Representatives are called PCP’s or Precinct Committee Persons. \nPCP’s must be officially registered Republicans and have an important job to work hard voluntarily to represent you! They are encouraged to: \n\nStay up to date on what’s happening locally politically.\nMaintain lists of Republican voters in their Precinct\n\n\nWalk neighborhoods (find volunteers to help with this project) and pass out voter information during election season.\n\n\nRegularly attend our Republican monthly meetings. (These are held on the 1st Saturday of every month and each PCP has an official vote.)\n\n\nVolunteer/help where needed in our Party functions.\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat is a Precinct Caucus?\n\n\nCaucus is a grassroots way to be influential in your city! It’s one town meeting to elect YOUR neighborhood representatives to represent YOU (called PCP’s)! You also get to elect delegates or can be chosen as a delegate to our County Assembly that votes for which Republicans get to go on our Gunnison Primary ballot in June in even numbered years! \nWho can participate in Gunnison Republican Precinct Caucuses?\nAll registered Republican voters: \n\nwho have lived in the precinct (neighborhood) for at least 22 days\nwho have been registered to vote no later than 22 days before Caucus;\nwho have been affiliated with the Republican Party for at least 22 days before Caucus\nanyone who turns 18 or becomes a naturalized citizen less than 22 days before Caucus may participate\na pre-registrant who is 17 years of age at Caucus but will be 18 years on the date of the next General Election\n\nNO VOTING BY PROXY OR ABSENTEE PERMITTED at Caucus. \nEach County Party MUST post a prominently displayed notice sign at the location of each Precinct Caucus at least twelve (12) days before Caucus. \nPrecinct Caucuses are held on a day between the first Tuesday through the first Saturday in March. You can even preregister for Caucus.
